Our Story

Born from personal experience.

Clark Monument Care was founded after a family member's passing revealed a gap most people never think about until they're standing in it: headstones purchased independently — online, out of state, or through vendors who don't include setting — leave families responsible for an installation that has permanent consequences if done wrong.

Drawing on hands-on cemetery maintenance experience, a reinforced concrete foundation was poured to 24 inches and the first stone was set by hand. What emerged from that experience was a clear purpose: an independent, expert setting, cleaning, and restoration service that does the job right — and stands behind it.

We don't sell monuments. We set them, clean them, and care for them — so the families who trusted someone else to provide the stone can trust us to make it last.

"Every stone marks someone who mattered. The setting should be worthy of that."

What We Are Not

A different kind of service.

Clark Monument Care is not a monument dealer. We have no interest in selling you a stone. That means every funeral home, monument company, and cemetery board we work with knows we are not competing with them — we are completing the service they cannot always provide.

Families who sourced their stone independently deserve the same quality of professional installation as anyone else. That is the gap we fill — with documented methods, signed agreements, and photographic records of every job we touch.

What We Do

Professional monument services,
properly done.

Monument Setting
New installation of single-piece uprights and two-piece base-and-die monuments. Engineered reinforced concrete foundation, properly cured, with monument adhesive at all joints.
Cleaning & Biological Restoration
D/2 Biological Solution — the preservation industry standard — applied with soft brushes and appropriate dwell time. Safe for all stone types including marble, limestone, and sandstone. No pressure washing. Ever.
Standard Restoration
Biological cleaning combined with releveling of settled monuments and minor surface repair. Appropriate for stones showing lean, settlement, or moderate surface deterioration.
Annual Maintenance Contract
Scheduled yearly service including cleaning, structural inspection, legibility re-rating, and a dated photographic report delivered to you. Ideal for families who cannot visit regularly.

Every job is quoted individually following assessment. Contact us to discuss your specific needs. Mileage beyond 60 miles may apply.

Our Foundation Standard

Built to exceed what's already in the ground.

Every monument we set rests on an engineered reinforced concrete foundation that exceeds the installation standard found in most rural cemeteries. The method is documented on every service agreement — because families deserve to know what they're paying for.

Pier Depth
24 Inches
Clears Arkansas's 16-inch frost line with 8 inches of margin. Belled bottom provides mechanical bearing against heave.
Slab Thickness
5.5 Inches
Formed with 2×6 lumber. Well into commercial flatwork territory for monument load applications.
Reinforcement
Rebar + Wire Mesh
Vertical rebar in each pier tied to continuous welded wire mesh throughout the slab. Full truss system, not individual elements.
Pour Method
Monolithic
Piers and slab poured as a single unit with no cold joint. No independent movement between foundation elements. Minimum 72-hour cure before setting.
Monument Bond
Monument Adhesive
Applied at base-to-slab and die-to-base joints. Formulated for stone expansion and contraction cycles that standard mortar cannot handle long-term.
Documentation
Every Job
Foundation specification recorded on the signed service agreement. Before and after photography of all stone faces retained in the permanent job file.

Our Commitments

What every family can expect.

01

Pre-arrival assessment on every job

We review FindAGrave records before we arrive. Material type, visible condition, settlement, and legibility are evaluated remotely so we arrive prepared — not discovering problems for the first time at the site.

02

No pressure washing. No exceptions.

Aggressive water pressure permanently destroys surface detail on marble, limestone, and sandstone. We use D/2 Biological Solution and soft brushes on every stone, regardless of type or condition. This is not negotiable regardless of client request.

03

Pre-existing conditions documented in writing

Every job begins with a four-point written assessment covering material, structural condition, surface condition, and legibility rating. Families sign off on what exists before we touch anything — protecting them and us.

04

Photographic record on every visit

Every face of every stone photographed before and after all work. Dated, retained in the permanent job file, and available to the family on request. Annual maintenance clients receive a photo report after every service visit.

05

Honest outcomes, honestly communicated

Some staining does not fully resolve. Some deterioration is irreversible. We tell families what to expect before the work begins, not after. A legibility rating established at intake sets expectations that are realistic, not optimistic.
